Erin Gruwell was a new teacher in an under-resourced system who was assigned a classroom of students considered to be "unteachable." The transformational curriculum she developed to engage her students and encourage them to rethink rigid beliefs, reconsider the impact of their daily decisions, and take ownership of their futures became the basis for the New York Times best-selling book,The Freedom Writers Diary, as well as the feature film Freedom Writers. Following the publication of The Freedom Writers Diary, Erin Gruwell started the Freedom Writers Foundation, an effort to replicate their success in classrooms across the country. 
The organization has since scaled nationally, providing unique and dynamic training to educators and lesson plan resource material. Come hear Erin's incredible story about how one individual can generate national impact upon education reform.
